Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Supreme Audit Board (BPK) and the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) have agreed to strengthen synergy in overseeing the implementation of the government’s strategic programs and policies.

In a statement cited here on Tuesday, the BPK stated that both institutions share the same view on the importance of ensuring transparency and accountability in the use of state funds, particularly in programs on food and energy security as well as water management.

“The BPK is committed to ensuring that we strictly refer to the principle of accountability in our audits. We hope that the synergy between the MPR and the BPK will remain solid,” BPK Head Isma Yatun remarked when receiving MPR representatives in Jakarta.

She emphasized that intensified coordination between state institutions is essential to building clean and more effective governance.

On that note, she expressed appreciation to MPR Speaker Ahmad Muzani for directing the parliament to deepen collaboration with the audit body.

“He (Muzani) provided us with much valuable motivation and input,” Yatun said.

Muzani, for his part, underlined that through its audits, the BPK plays a strategic role in ensuring that President Prabowo Subianto’s priority programs are implemented in an effective and accurate manner.

“The audits must lead to improved effectiveness of the government’s programs, the initiatives that have been pioneered by Mr. President,” he pointed out.

The lawmaker further stressed that strong synergy between the MPR and BPK is necessary to help the government deliver tangible positive results for the people.

Bearing that in mind, he reiterated BPK’s pivotal role in guiding Indonesia’s progress.

“Through this meeting, we aim to ensure that the MPR and the BPK work in accordance with the constitution in the hopes of strengthening the state, improving governance effectiveness, and promoting the national ideology,” Muzani concluded.
