His statement follows the death of Timothy Anugrah Saputra, a student at Udayana University (Unud), Bali, who was allegedly a victim of bullying by fellow students.
“We have received a report from the rector of Unud, stating that an investigation team has been formed to uncover the facts, alongside support efforts for the victim’s family and others involved,” Yuliarto said in the ministry's statement on Monday.
The minister underscored the enforcement of Ministerial Regulation No. 55 of 2024 on the Prevention and Handling of Violence in Higher Education Institutions (PPKPT).
He noted that the ministry is currently running a national campaign on PPKPT, urging all universities in Indonesia to establish anti-violence task forces in accordance with the regulation.
These task forces are tasked with ensuring a violence-free academic environment, providing mechanisms for reporting, investigating, and supporting victims, including psychological, legal, and social assistance.
They also aim to promote healthy, respectful, and equitable relationships within campus communities.
“Reports of violence may be submitted by victims or witnesses, directly or indirectly, through campus channels or to the Inspectorate General of the Ministry,” Yuliarto explained.
Additionally, the ministry has launched the "Sahabat" portal at sahabat.kemdiktisaintek.go.id as a safe online platform for education, consultation, and communication on violence prevention in higher education.
Reports can also be filed through the public complaints system LAPOR! at lapor.go.id, with submissions forwarded to the relevant institutions.
These efforts reflect the ministry’s commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and violence-free academic ecosystem.
