Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, announced that each newly established Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) or MBG kitchen will serve a maximum of 2,500 meal beneficiaries.

According to him, the new regulation refers to the latest technical guidelines on the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program.

"Previously, each kitchen could serve 3,000-4,000 beneficiaries. With the new guideline, we are targeting an average of 2,500, with 2,000 for school children. Each kitchen will also serve a minimum of 500 portions for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers," he said during a hearing with Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) on Wednesday.

For MBG kitchens staffed with skilled cooks, his team allows meal production to be increased to up to 3,000 portions.

"No beneficiaries should be left behind because of these new regulations," Hindayana ensured.

In order to improve the governance of this national priority program, he also required all kitchens to adhere to several regulations. First, the obligation to use rapid tests to prevent food poisoning.

"All MBG kitchens are required to use sterilizers for food trays and use certified water or water filters to ensure clean water during cooking and washing utensils," he reminded.

Each kitchen must also provide regular training and technical guidance to food handlers to ensure their understanding of the principles of hygiene, sanitation, and food safety, Hindayana added.

Lastly, MBG kitchens must expedite the Hygiene and Sanitation Certification (SLHS), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and halal certification.

He informed that as of November 11, 2025, the agency had reached 41.6 million MBG beneficiaries in 14,773 MBG kitchens across Indonesia.

BGN has also disbursed a budget of Rp43.4 trillion (US$2.5 billion) or 61.23 percent of the total budget for the MBG in 2025, which amounted to Rp71 trillion (US$4.1 billion).
