Cilacap, C Java (ANTARA) - The joint Search and Rescue (SAR) team stepped up efforts to find two remaining victims of the landslide in Cibeunying Village, Cilacap District, Central Java, as the search-and-rescue mission entered its tenth day.

The SAR operation has been focused on two worksites, namely Worksite A-1 and Worksite B-1, utilizing manual and heavy equipment.

Head of Operations and Alert Section of the Cilacap SAR Office, Priyo Prayudha Utama, stated in Cilacap, Central Java, on Saturday that additional personnel have been deployed to Worksite A-1 because the evacuation process requires the use of manual extrication equipment.

"At Worksite B-1, we deployed heavy equipment at marked points to speed up the search," he said.

Regarding the possibility of extending the search operation, he affirmed a decision would be made after an evaluation on Saturday afternoon.

"We will see if there are strong signs for us to be able to evacuate the victims or not," Utama said.

A landslide occurred last week on Thursday (November 13) around 7:00 p.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB), burying several residents' homes in Tarukahan Hamlet and Cibuyut Hamlet, Cibeunying Village, Majenang Sub-district, Cilacap, Central Java.

Based on the initial report following the incident, 46 residents were affected by the massive landslide, comprising 23 survivors, two fatalities, and 21 people missing.

As of the 10th day of the search operation on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. WIB, with more bodies recovered from the site, the number of death victims from the fatal landslide has increased to 21 people.

Meanwhile, the two residents who are still missing are Maysarah Salsabila (14 years old) at Worksite A-1 and Vani Hayati Lanjarsari (12 years old) at Worksite B-1.
