Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has instructed the National Police (Polri) to immediately repair road access that was cut off due to recent natural disasters in Central Tapanuli, North Sumatra.

The directive was conveyed by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo after accompanying President Prabowo during a visit to evacuation centers for flood victims in the region on Monday.

“There are several matters of concern related to the routes that were cut off. The President has instructed that repairs be carried out as soon as possible,” Sigit told reporters.

He added that the President also ordered authorities to ensure the availability of essential supplies for affected residents, including fuel needed for daily activities.

“In essence, he instructed that all efforts to assist communities affected by the natural disaster be fully maximized so everything can proceed well,” he said.

According to him, the President’s instructions have been relayed to all relevant ministries, government agencies, the military, police, and regional leadership forums to ensure coordinated action.

During the visit, President Prabowo inspected evacuation sites, including temporary shelter areas and health posts for displaced residents, while also speaking directly with evacuees.

In addition, the police chief said Polri will symbolically hand over seven trucks of “Polri for the People” assistance, containing food supplies, clothing, and daily necessities.

The death toll from floods and landslides across Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra has continued to rise, reaching 442, according to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) in a report received in Jakarta on Monday.

Meanwhile, the total number of missing persons across the three provinces has reached 402.
