"The demographic dividend and the need for jobs are currently some of the main challenges in Indonesia. To overcome these, the transmigration program plays a crucial role in ensuring new economic growth that is inclusive and sustainable," he said.
Speaking at the Indonesian Professors Council Forum (FDGBI) congress here on Thursday, he highlighted that universities are the core of this goal, and thus, scientific knowledge needs to be applied in the form of community service.
He stated that the Patriot Transmigration Program he initiated is a form of synergy among academics through the Patriot Expedition Teams.
On that occasion, he expressed appreciation for the Golden Ticket program of Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), which targets outstanding students in the disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions.
"This policy can strengthen educational access for children from transmigration areas," he remarked.
ITS Rector Prof. Bambang Pramujati asserted that Indonesia cannot solely rely on Java island to achieve the Golden Indonesia 2045 goal.
"Transmigration is beyond relocating residents; it is about building a new economy and civilization," he said.
Pramujati affirmed that ITS fully supports the Patriot Transmigration Program, which involves sending 57 Patriot Expedition Teams to 33 transmigration areas across Indonesia.
Apart from that, ITS is also open to collaboration for the planning and development of the transmigration areas' potential.
Furthermore, he explained that the ITS Golden Ticket program is granted to high school students from 117 schools in 3T regions visited by the Patriot Expedition Teams, allowing them to enroll without a selection test.
"The hope is that the education can help them develop their hometowns," he said.
