Padang (ANTARA) -

Indonesia’s state-run energy firm Pertamina said it is maintaining fuel and gas supplies to disaster-hit provinces in Sumatra by deploying land, sea and air transport amid widespread infrastructure damage.

Distribution continues across Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra through alternative routes, with priority given to areas cut off by damaged roads, the company said.

"We are mobilising all available resources to ensure energy supply continuity after the disaster," Pertamina Corporate Secretary Arya Dwi Paramita said in Padang, West Sumatra, on Saturday.

Pertamina has relied on sea transport to reach remote areas, using roll-on/roll-off vessels and Navy ships to ferry fuel tanker trucks across affected regions.

When land and sea access is not possible, the company coordinates with the military and police to deliver fuel by air, including sling-load operations.

Fuel supplies, mainly diesel and other products, have also been transported in drums using Air Tractor aircraft with a capacity of 3,500 to 4,000 litres.

In West Sumatra, Pertamina distributed LPG to Padang Pariaman, Agam and Padang, and supplied a total of 17,439 litres of fuel.

The company has also set up 111 public kitchens and 164 satellite posts across the three provinces to support government disaster response efforts.
