Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Provincial Government will roll out a range of worker incentives including free public transportation, clean water subsidies, and BPJS Kesehatan health insurance coverage, Governor Pramono Anung said on Monday.

Speaking at Jakarta City Hall, Anung said the incentives are being provided because such benefits are not regulated under Government Regulation (PP) No. 51 on wages amid ongoing discussions over the provincial minimum wage.

"Because we understand that in the current global economic situation, measures like these can give workers or laborers extra energy to perform better at work," he said.

Anung explained that transportation incentives will be given to workers who use transportation services managed by the Jakarta Provincial Government, allowing them to travel free of charge.

The Jakarta Provincial Government will also cover BPJS Kesehatan premiums for workers who do not receive health insurance benefits from their employers.

In addition, the Jakarta administration will provide clean water subsidies through the city-owned water utility PAM Jaya.

"I have already instructed PAM Jaya that if workers wish to receive clean water subsidies from PAM Jaya, we will provide them," Anung said.

Furthermore, Anung said he is targeting the discussion on the Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) to be completed today so it can be officially announced to the public as soon as possible.

He noted that today’s discussion will be the final one, with the Jakarta Provincial Government acting as a mediator between employers and workers.

Anung added that the discussion will also refer to Government Regulation (PP) Number 49 of 2025 as the guiding framework for determining the UMP.

"Under the UMP framework stipulated in the regulation, the adjustment ranges from 0.5 to 0.9. Negotiations and differing interests are inevitable," he mentioned.

Nevertheless, Anung emphasized that the Jakarta Provincial Government will remain fair to both employers and workers.
