Serang (ANTARA) - The Banten Regional Police deployed 100 personnel from its Mobile Brigade (Brimob) unit to Aceh to support Operation Aman Nusa II of the National Police (Polri), as part of ongoing disaster response efforts in Sumatra.

Banten Police Chief Inspector General Hengki highlighted the Brimob deployment as a testament to Polri’s readiness and commitment to assisting residents affected by floods and landslides that struck multiple districts and cities in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra last month.

“The 100 Brimob personnel are assigned to carry out humanitarian duties for one to six months, depending on situational developments and instructions from Polri Headquarters,” he stated during the troop send-off in Serang City, Banten, on Friday.

Hengki explained that the 100-member team will operate under the command of the Aceh Regional Police, focusing on humanitarian tasks such as evacuation, logistics distribution, security support, and joint recovery efforts with relevant institutions.

“Given the devastating impact of the disasters on the community, the presence of the state through Polri, particularly the Brimob Corps, has become crucial in addressing post-disaster emergencies,” he said.

Addressing the Brimob personnel, the police chief emphasized the importance of maintaining a humane approach in every assignment, despite the significant challenges they may face in the field, including extreme weather conditions, difficult terrain, and trauma experienced by affected residents.

“You must carry out your duties with professionalism, discipline, loyalty, sincerity, and empathy. A humane approach must remain a priority,” Hengki said, urging the personnel to uphold proper conduct and attitude to maintain public trust.

He further stressed that cross-sector synergy with the Aceh Regional Police, the military, local governments, health workers, and volunteers is essential to ensure that disaster response efforts are carried out effectively and in a coordinated manner.

“This deployment is expected to provide Brimob personnel with an opportunity to demonstrate their dedication and service to the people,” he remarked.
