Jakarta (ANTARA) - Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf stated that the disbursement of temporary direct cash assistance (BLTS) for beneficiaries in the flood- and landslide-hit Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra has reached above 80 percent.

"In Aceh, the disbursement has reached 88 percent despite constraints in internet networks, unstable electricity, and access to several districts and cities that remain cut-off," he said here on Wednesday.

He reported that the total distribution of BLTS in Aceh as of Wednesday afternoon has reached 206,495 beneficiary families. Each verified beneficiary family across Indonesia receives Rp300,000 (around US$17.9) per month for three months, totaling Rp900,000.

"Despite the challenges, we are making every effort to ensure the BLTS reaches all beneficiaries," Yusuf remarked.

He explained that, in addition to the state-owned postal company Pos Indonesia, the assistance disbursement is also carried out via state-owned banks. Especially for older adults and people with disabilities, the aid is being delivered directly to their homes.

Meanwhile, in North Sumatra, 81.84 percent of the beneficiaries have received the assistance, totaling 464,771 families. In West Sumatra, distribution has reached 83.99 percent, with 225,601 families having already received the aid.

"We continue to strive to ensure it is received by the eligible beneficiaries," the minister said.

Previously, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that Indonesia’s economic momentum has been bolstered by the distribution of the BLTS of up to Rp31 trillion.

He noted that more than Rp29 trillion of the aid has been disbursed, with the remaining balance currently in the process of being distributed to the public.

"There is only a small amount left to be disbursed. The economic drive in the fourth quarter, specifically this December, should be stronger than last year," Purbaya said.
