“Four people passed through immigration checkpoints, and two of them are still in Indonesia,” Ngurah Rai Immigration Chief Bugie Kurniawan said on March 4.
The office has been coordinating closely with the Bali Regional Police to support the investigation into the suspected kidnapping of Ukrainian national Ihor Komarav.
Kurniawan said immigration officers have been assigned to assist investigators and maintain intensive communication with police regarding the suspects’ border crossings and residence permits.
“We are also monitoring immigration checkpoints so that if information about wanted persons becomes available, we can immediately detain them,” he said.
Bali police are currently working to solve the suspected kidnapping and murder of the 28-year-old victim.
Investigators are examining the discovery of human body parts found earlier on Ketewel Beach in Sukawati Subdistrict, Gianyar District, which are suspected to be linked to the case.
The remains were sent to National Police Headquarters for DNA testing to confirm their identity.
A new lead also emerged after police confirmed the discovery of bloodstains matching those of the victim’s mother.
The bloodstains were found earlier at a villa in Tabanan and inside a rented car believed to be connected to the suspects.
Meanwhile, Bali police Spokesperson Senior Commissioner Ariasandy said investigators have named six suspects in the case, along with a Nigerian national who was allegedly hired by the six foreign nationals to arrange the rental of one car and two motorcycles.
Police have added the six foreign nationals to their wanted list and submitted a red notice request to Interpol to help track their whereabouts internationally.
Ukrainian national Ihor Komarav was first reported missing on Sunday, Feb. 15, after he was suspected of being kidnapped by unidentified attackers.
Shortly afterward, a video broadcast believed to have been recorded by the victim surfaced, showing Komarav inside a villa while the kidnappers demanded a ransom payment from his family.
