"We are showing the commitment of the Indonesian nation, the commitment of President Prabowo Subianto, who is deeply concerned and committed to the struggle of the Palestinian people, that inspires us to provide support and assistance," Baznas Chairman Sodik Mudjahid conveyed in a statement on Friday.
The program includes the construction of 200 family tents, 50 toilets, a 100-square-meter mosque tent, and classroom tents to support the continuity of social and worship activities.
Besides infrastructure, the program also disbursed 151,000 liters of clean water and thousands of food packages targeting a total of 11,714 beneficiaries.
In addition, Sodik revealed that Baznas also provided kafalah, or incentives, for 20 school teachers and Quran reciters and memorizers for the next six months.
"We report this as a form of accountability to those who have put their trust in Baznas," he continued.
He also thanked all parties involved in this program, including donors, for realizing various humanitarian programs such as the establishment of the Kampung Cahaya Zakat.
Meanwhile, Ahrul Tsani Fathurrahman, Director of the Middle East from the Directorate General of Asia Pacific and Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, lauded the work of Baznas, the volunteers, and the entire Indonesian people for their concrete solidarity with Palestinians.
"The Kampung Cahaya Zakat program is a tangible demonstration of this spirit. This program not only provides physical assistance in the form of tents, sanitation facilities, mosques, or schools, but above all that, it brings hope, a sense of security, comfort, and most importantly, a message to our brothers and sisters in Palestine that they are not alone," Fathurrahman emphasized.
