“This collaboration not only strengthens bilateral relations between Indonesia and our partner countries but also opens up broader opportunities for halal products to enter and be accepted in the international market,” BPJPH Head Ahmad Haikal Hasan said in a statement on Thursday.
The first partnership is with the Moroccan Institute of Standardization (IMANOR), realized through a mutual recognition agreement (MRA) on halal certificates between the two countries.
The BPJPH also signed recognition agreements (RAs) with several foreign halal certification bodies that have met Indonesia's Halal Product Assurance System (SJPH) standards.
These include the WHAD Italian Halal Certification Center, France's Global Halal Systems, Korea's GL Halal Center, China's FUIN Halal Certification Center, and Shanghai Museling Testing and Certification.
Hasan expressed hope that this move would strengthen mutual trust and recognition of each country's halal systems, further boosting the trade of halal products across borders.
He also assessed that the developments of the global halal industry now show a significant shift in how the world perceives halal.
He explained that halal is no longer viewed solely through the lens of Islamic principles compliance, but has evolved into a symbol of quality and global standards.
“The world now views halal as a guarantee of quality, safety, and product traceability,” the BPJPH head asserted.
He added that this trend is evident as an increasing number of countries integrate the halal industry into their national trade and industrial development strategies.
"We can see how countries like China and South Korea move swiftly in developing the halal industry. This shows that halal has evolved into a universal benchmark for quality and trust," he remarked.
