Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia and Laos are to hold the third meeting of the Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) in Yogyakarta on Monday (Jan 17).

The meeting will be preceded by a senior officials meeting in the morning and followed by a ministerial meeting in the evening, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

JCBC is a ministerial-level forum between Indonesia and Laos aimed at facilitating bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

Such a meeting was last held in Vientienne, Laos, on December 17 last year.

The third meeting of JCBC will be co-chaired by Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty M. Natalegawa and his Laotion counterpart, Thongloun Sisoulith, the statement said.

The Yogyakarta meeting will focus on political and security cooperation, trade, investment and economic cooperation, and socio-cultural cooperation.

In addition, the two foreign ministers will also exchange views on regional and international issues which become the center of attention from the two countries.

To enhance people-to-people relations between the two ASEAN member states, the two ministers are expected to sign a visa-free agreement for ordinary passport holders.
Indonesia and Laos established diplomatic ties on August 30, 1957.
