In his confessions in his defense at the South Jakarta district court, Gayus had said it was very difficult to find tax officials who were really clean at the time.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Former tax official Gayus Tambunan who was recently convicted for corruption said he had already disclosed the names of all officials allegedly involved in tax fraud cases to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

"From the tiny to the big fish including the sharks and the whales, I have identified them all to the KPK. So it is now up to the KPK to decide whether it will investigate and take action against them," Gayus said after he was grilled by the KPK for the second time here on Friday.

In essence, he said, he had answered all the questions the KPK had put to him, including on the modus operandi of the mafia in the tax office.

"I have told everything including about the officials involved, their role as well as how tax complaints are handled and settled," he said.

Gayus again said he and his friends in the Directorate of Taxation considered the period before 2007 as the "pagan age." In his confessions in his defense at the South Jakarta district court, Gayus had said it was very difficult to find tax officials who were really clean at the time.

Gayus underwent his first grilling by KPK on Wednesday. At the time he was only asked about the working system at the Directorate of Taxation including the handling the tax complaints and never about the officials involved in tax corruption.

The explanation was given in response to 11 questions given by the KPK during five and a half hours of questioning.

In the second questioning on Friday that lasted for more than six hours Gayus was flanked by his lawyer Hotma Sitompul.(*)
