Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA News) - An Indian investor has been interested in investing in the construction of Bali`s Buleleng international airport, an official said.

"The investor which is grouped in the Indian construction firm GVK Group, expressed its interest during a meeting with Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika on Wednesday," Bali Regional Government Spokesman Ketut Teneng said here on Wednesday.

Teneng said the meeting between the governor and GVK Group leader Krishna Reddy was a follow up of a meeting previously held between the Indian business representatives with the Bali Regional Legislative Assembly (DPRD) chairman, Anak Agung Ngurah Oka Ratmadi.

He said that the visit to Bali by the Indian investor was still within holding an audience level, not yet at the level of talking targets and investment values that would be made.

The visit was also as part of the signing of a cooperation agreement between President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and the Indonesian government.

"No targets or investment values have been discussed yet. This is still an audience to follow up an agreement reached between the Indonesian and the Indian governments several months ago," Teneng said.

He said that during the meeting with the GVK leader, the Bali governor asked the Indian side to pay attention to the philosophical values of Bali, which were similar to those in India.

The GVK group is a construction firm head-quartered in Mumbai, India. It was reported that GVK group has been successful in renovating Mumbai and Bangalore airports.

Even, PT Angkasa Pura I, Indonesia`s airport operator, has worked together with the GVK group in the construction of a new airport in yogjakarta with an investment worth Rp1.5 trillion.
