According to information from the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, among the evacuees there was a Tohoku University literary student, Vera Yulianti, who had sustained a spinal injury.
Vera was immediately taken to Showa Daigaku Byoin (Showa University Hospital) for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, another group of evacuees who had arrived earlier at the SRIT shelter, included a pregnant woman, and a mother with a two-week-old infant. They were in good condition and only looked very tired.
The evacuees were accommodated in the school`s heated sports hall where they were given blankets, mats, folding mattresses and pillows.
Tokyo embassy staff and a team from the foreign ministry`s citizens` protection unit were helping the evacuees at the SRIT shelter while some Indonesian citizens living in Tokyo had provided jackets, sweaters, scarves, and socks.
Meanwhile, an advance Indonesian relief team had arrived in Sendai, Miyagi prefecture, led by Major Zaenal Arifin, to conduct searches for Indonesian nationals in local hospitals and evacuation centers.
An evacuation team from Fukushima was on Monday reported to be on its way back to Tokyo with three evacuees and expected to arrive at the SRIT shelter at around 11:00 local time.
The team reported the three evacuees were in good condition and so were other evacuated foreigners.
Japan was on Friday (March 11) hit by a magnitude-9 earth quake followed by a 10-meter tsunami that have killed more than 900 people and caused 2,000 others to go missing.(*)
