Even, materials to be used for extinguishing the fire have to be sent from outside CilacapJakarta (ANTARA News) - The president director of PT Pertamina should resign following the fire that gutted three Pertamina fuel tanks at unit 4 of its Cilacap refinery in Central Java, a House Commission deputy chairman said.
"It is reasonable for the Pertamina president director (Karen Agustiawan) to resign from her post due to the incident," Effendi Simbolon, deputy chairman of Commission VII of the House of Representatives (DPR), said here on Monday.
Simbolon made the call in a press conference in the company of several other members of Commission VII which is in charge of energy affairs, such as Totok Daryanto of the National Mandate Party Faction (PAN), Ahmad Farial of the United Development Party (PPP) faction, Diti Ganindoto of the Golkar Party and Alimin Abdullah of PAN.
At present three of fuel tanks of the Unit 4 were on fire in Cilacap. Effendi said he was following the developments of the fire.
"We see that the fire has been handled unprofessionally. Even, materials to be used for extinguishing the fire have to be sent from outside Cilacap," he said.
On the occasion, the HOuse Commission VII also called on the government and the state-owned oil firm Pertamina to provide explanations immediately over the fire in its fuel oil tanks.
"We urge the government and Pertamina to provide explanations immediately. Those responsible must receive sanctions," the Commission VII deputy chairman said.
Pertamina Spokesman M Harun said early on Monday that the fire of the two of the three tanks had been put out.
One tank is still on fire, namely tank 31-T7, while the fire of tank 31-T2 and tank 31-T3 has been extinguished, he said.
The Pertamina spokesman said that workers were still doing their jobs to put out the fire and to isolate the other nearby tanks.(*)
