"We should not forget it as there are a lot of projects that have been approved, obtained permits and concession but they are not done, even there are projects that have been stalled for some 10 to 15 years," the vice president said here on Tuesday.
He said that the stalled infrastructure projects were a homework for the government which should not be left neglected but the government should review and carry them with follow up steps.
"These projects should not hamper national interest," he said when addressing a function.
He said that the construction of infrastructure by investors was now very needed. The government, according to the vice president, was only able to provide 30 percent of the funds needed to develop the infrastructure projects in the country.
Boediono said that investors were expected to help fund 70 percent of the infrastructure projects in Indonesia.
Based on the government data, the need for funds for the construction of infrastructure projects in Indonesia until 2014 reached Rp1,429 trillion.
"We are well aware of that fact so that we think that the only way for the government to develop the infrastructure is to encourage and accelerate investment by the business world, both state-owned businesses and privately owned ones, in order to overcome the lack of funds needed to finance the 70 percent of the projects," the vice president said.
He said that the government was very serious in encouraging the private sector to make their investment in the infrastructure sector.
"We should prove our seriousness and told the investors about this and inform them the concrete steps that we have to take in the various fields," he added.
