"Though the government has lowered the country`s security status from alert I to alert III level, TNI will continue to maintain alertness against bomb threats."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) will maintain vigilance against bomb threats although the government has lowered its security alertness status, the TNI chief said.

TNI Chief Admiral Agus Suhartono said here on Tuesday that the government had imposed alert I security status in the face of bomb terror ahead of the Easter Day activities in the country.

"Though the government has lowered the country`s security status from alert I to alert III level, TNI will continue to maintain alertness against bomb threats," the TNI chief said before attending a parliamentary hearing.

Earlier, National Police Chief Gen Timor Pradopo said that the

government had lifted the alert I security status after it was imposed for three days during Easter Day activities.

In a statement at the State Palace, the National Police chief said that the security status of the country had been returned to its initial level.

"After the Easter Day activities, all are now tailored to the initial security conditions," he said.

The alert I security status was imposed by the government from Thursday evening 21 April 2011 to Sunday, April 24, 2011 following the discovery of high-explosive bombs before they could have time to explode ahead of the Easter celebration.

According to TNI Chief Agus Suhartono, TNI had the interest to maintain security so that rituals during the Easter Day could proceed peacefully, orderly and smoothly.
