Rome (ANTARA News/AFP) - A Dutch tourist committed suicide on Friday by jumping off the Leaning Tower of Pisa just days after the completion of years of restoration on the famous monument, Italian news agency ANSA reported.

The 22-year-old man bought a ticket to enter the tower and then jumped over a metal barrier on the fourth level to fall to his death, the report said.

The World Heritage site, which dates back to the 12th century, was unveiled earlier this week after a painstaking clean-up operation.

The fourth level of the tower is about 35 metres (115 feet) off the ground. (*)
