The presidential spokesman made the remark after accompanying the president in receiving the national committee for the celebrations of Waisyak Day here on Friday.
He said President Yudhoyonono expressed appreciation to Buddhist followers for always maintaining peace and interfaith harmony.
"The president thanked Buddhist followers for their participation and role in nurturing inter-religious harmony," the presidential spokesman said.
He said that Yudhoyono expressed his appreciation to the Buddhist community who always provided assistance for those who were in need, particularly natural disaster victims.
