Samarinda, East Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - East Kalimantan soccer fans said they will sue "group 78" for causing a deadlock in the PSSI (Indonesian Soccer Association) congress on Friday (May 20).

"We go to Jakarta on Monday to stage a strong protest against the group 78 (K78) considered to be responsible for the failure of the recent PSSI congress which may prompt FIFA to impose a sanction on Indonesia," head of East Kalimantan soccer enthusiasts Chairil Usman said here on Sunday.

The soccer enthusiasts including some members of the society, junior clubs, local legislators and community leaders who had condemned the action of K78 seen as an embarrassment to Indonesia.

"The K78 action during the PSSI congress at Sultan Hotel here on Friday was very embarrassing because the group was trying to impose its wish against the FIFA decision. The PSSI congress which failed to issue a decision, which caused Indonesia to receive sanctions, for which K78 was responsible," he cited.

"What does the many years of football coaching mean if we have no right to take part in international competitions. Thus, the failure of the congress will also threaten Indonesian football for which we will sue them (K78). We are preparing a lawsuit along with several other football observers of Jakarta," Chairil Usman said.

East Kalimantan soccer enthusiasts fully support the steps of Normalization Committee chairman Agum Gumelar in holding the congress, he noted.

In the meantime, Youth and Sports Minister Andi Malarangeng expressed concern about the chaos in the PSSI congress last Friday.

"I am sorry that the congress failed to elect a new chairman due to the chaos," he said in Yogyakarta on Saturday.

The minister also kept hoping that FIFA would not impose a sanction on Indonesia for taking too long to solve PSSI`s internal problem. (*)
