Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has instructed the Foreign Affairs Ministry to facilitate the repatriation of Nunun Nurbaeti whom the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named a suspect in the bribery of lawmakers in 2004, a palace spokesman said.

Presidential spokesman on international affairs Teuku Faizasyah said here Monday the president had asked the foreign ministry to faciltate Nunun`s return to Indonesia so that she could undergo the due legal process.

"A presidential instruction has been sent to the foreign affairs minister to give special attention to the need for Nunun Nurbaeti`s reaptriation ," he said.

Faiza said Nunun whose passport had been revoked by the Director General of Immigration of the Law and and Human Rights Ministry should no longer live abroad nor travel freely y from one country to another.

"Based on simple logic, she can no longer live abroad and travel freely because she no longer has a valid passport," he said.

Faiza said Nunun`s repatriation from wherever she now was actually did not necessarily depend on whether there was an extradition treaty between Indonesia and the foreign country concerned.

He said Nunun`s repatriation could be accomplsihed through diplomacy based on the existing good relations between Indonesia and the foreign country involved.

"Someone`s repatriation does not always have to be based on an extradition treaty between countries but can also happen based on the principle of good relations. Our relations with every country are fine," he said.

To determine Nunun`s whereabouts abroad, Indonesia could use different mechanisms such as the Interpol and international immigration cooperation channels, according Teuku.

After Nunun`s whereabouts had been ascertained, diplomatic and legal steps could be taken to repatriate the wife of Adang Daradjatun, a former National Police deputy chief.

Last May 23, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named Nunun Nurbaeti a suspect in connection with alleged bribery linked to the election of Bank Indonesia Senior Deputy Governor Miranda Gultom in 2004, the anti-graft body`s chief said.

In several court sessions on the case of traveler`s cheque bribery involving politicians who were former members of House Commission IX Nunun Nurbaeti`s name had been mentioned several times as the one who had distributed the traveler`s cheques through Dedhi Makmun Murod.

Nunun gave the cheques through Arie Malangjudo in a restaurant in the Senayan area to Dudhie who claimed that he had been ordered to do so by Panda Nababan, a senior politician from the Indonesian Democratic Party-Struggle (PDIP).
