Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The US embassy`s Charge d` Affaires, Ted Osius, attended the opening ceremony for Weatherford`s new facility, expanding Weatherford`s investment in the Indonesian oil and gas sector.

Speaking to Indonesian government officials and other dignitaries, Robert Harvey, President Director of Weatherford Indonesia, highlighted the substantial investment Weatherford has made in Indonesia, and to charities in the local community, the US embassy in Jakarta said in a press statement Thursday.

Weatherford Indonesian`s contributions have helped to sustain growth and development in Indonesia, and 94% of its 800 employees are Indonesian.

Charge d` Affaires Osius stressed the importance of foreign investment for the development of both Indonesia and the United States.

The United States and its companies have long been reliable partners to ensure Indonesia`s energy development and energy security. As part of the U.S. Indonesia Comprehensive Partnership, and both governments jointly hosted a Roundtable seeking to spur energy investment just last month.

Speaking to the press following the event, Osius stressed the importance of transparency to continued investment in Indonesia. "More investment means greater growth for Indonesia, further our cooperation and building our US-Indonesia Comprehensive Partnership," he said.(*)
