Geneva (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono met with the director general of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Pascal Lamy, here Wednesday before leaving for Japan.

The meeting was held at the Cointrin airport in Geneva, Switzerland, where Pascal Lamy had just arrived from attending the World Economic Forum on East Asia in Indonesia.

The meeting lasted around 30 minutes behind closed doors. Before receiving Lamy, President Yudhoyono also received courtesy calls from three leaders from UN organizations headquartered in Switzerland at Hotel Intercontinental, namely Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, director general of the United Nations Office in Geneva, Margaret Chan, director general of the World Health Organization, and Margareta Wahistrom, special envoy of the UN Secretary General for Disaster Risk Mitigation.

President Yudhoyono`s special aide for foreign affairs, Teuku Faizasyah, said the President in the meeting with the WHO director general discussed the implementation of Millennium Development Goals.

Tokayev meanwhile is a new official at the UN Office at Geneva.

After the meetings President Yudhoyono accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Political, Security and Legal Affairs Djoko Suyanto, Industry Minister MS Hidayat, Minister of Manpower Muhaimin Iskandar and Cabinet Secretary Dipo Alam left for Japan for a state visit.

In Japan President Yudhoyono is scheduled to meet with Emperor Akihito and Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan as well as delivering a lecture and presenting aids to tsunami and earthquake victims.
