Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has decided to set up a special task force to help Indonesian migrant workers (TKIs) being threatened by the death penalty overseas.

The special task force is needed to make the handling of the troubled TKIs more focused, the head of state announced at a press conference at his office here Thursday.

"Actually, functionally, we have already had the legal and human rights ministry as well as the foreign affairs ministry. But, I consider it necessary to form this special task force to make it more focus and continuously deal with these problems," he said.

The President also decided to place a legal and human rights attache in every country receiving Indonesian migrant workers.

The legal and human rights attache post is at the recommendation of the legal and human rights minister with an objective to tackle legal issues involving TKIs overseas.

A national policy on the TKI protection overseas will be issued after an integrated team led by Manpower and Transmigration Minister Muhaimin Iskandar finishes making an evaluation.

The integrated team has been formed at the instruction of the President to evaluate the condition of TKIs in all recipient countries.

Indonesia has expressed strong protest against Saudi Arabia over the implementation of the execution of its migrant worker Ruyati in that country last Saturday (June 18).

President Yudhoyono strongly protested that the Saudi government did not inform Indonesia before the execution was carried out.

"Like other Indonesians I am sad over the incident. I am concerned and strongly protest the Saudi government for having broken international norms with regard to execution," he said at a press conference at his office.

The President said efforts had always been made by the government for the protection of its citizens.
