"The names of problematic cadres have been collected by the party`s Ethics Council for further processing," Ahmad Mubarok said on the sidelines of the PD national coordination meeting at Sentul International Convention Center (SICC) here on Saturday.
Mubarok said the sanctions on problematic cadres were necessary to save the party and safeguard its identity.
As chairman of the Party`s Board of Patrons, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who is also President of the Republic of Indonesia, has given the directive that the Democrat Party should always uphold civility in politics, remain clean and perform better, Mubarok said.
"The Democrat Party adopted this identity since the beginning but in reality there were still badly performing, uncivil and unclean cadres in the party," he said.
Therefore, through its coordination meeting, the Democrat Party would reinforce its identity which certain cadres still could not uphold.
After all, the party was at present being plagued by issues created by those who wanted to smear the party`s image, he said.
"Therefore, in an effort to salvage the party, the Ethics Council was listing the names of cadres suspected to be problematic for further processing," he said.
He said that problematic cadres would receive sanctions according to the extent of their violations, and the severity of the sanctions was the authority of the Ethics Council to determine.
