"Hopefully on Wednesday it will be operational throughout Jakarta," Minister Gamawan said here on Monday.
Of the 17 items of devices needed to produce E-ID cards at urban village/sub districts offices, 15 items have been dispatched to the local offices, the remaining two items were expected to arrive at the offices in Jakarta later on Monday (August 1).
When the 17 items are completed, the equipment would be undergone testing before being operated on Wednesday (August 3).
"Hopefully all logistics will be arriving today (Monday, 3/8)," he said.
On separate occasion, Secretary to the ministry`s population and civil record director general Elvius Dailami said all the devices must be distributed to all 267 urban village offices throughout Jakarta on Monday afternoon (August 1).
He said Jakarta was supposed to begin the E-ID card services early August, but it did not mean on August 1.
Meanwhile, the Jakarta administration`s population and civil record office head, Purba Hutapea, said on Friday (July 29) that the distribution process of E-ID card logistics distribution had reached 30 percent.
Only the Menteng urban village office in Central Jakarta, and the Cikoko office in South Jakarta have received complete logistics, he said.
In total, the Jakarta administration is expected to receive
707 computers, eye, finger print and signature scanners,or two packages per urban village office.
The home affairs ministry has targeted the completion of the Electronic Identity Card (E-ID) program in 197 districts/cities in 2011.
"Our target is to provide E-ID cards to 300 people per day, so the E-ID Card program in 197 districts/cities can be completed in 2011," the ministry`s Population and Civil Record Director General Irman said when checking the equipment and E-ID card system at Menteng, Central Jakarta, recently.
Around 67 million people are expected to get E-ID cards in August 2011.
The E-ID card program is implemented in two stages - the first stage is in 197 districts/cities in 2011, and the second state in 300 districts/cities in 2012. (*)
