Padang, West Sumatra (ANTARA News) - PT Amagedon from the Netherlands and investors from Belgium plan to build a six kilometer long road tunnel connecting Bungus, Pengambiran Padan and Padang city in West Sumatra.

"Since 2007 the cooperation with the investors has already been carried out. Even the feasibility study has been finished," Padang mayor Fauzi Bahar said when receiving a delegation from P Amagedon here on Wednesday.

The delegation includes Edi Pieter, the president director of PT Amagedon, Nico Berx, the director of Port of Antwerp International, Joris Daman Technical Consultant of Port of Antwerp International, Yohannes de Gruij L, director of MJM BU Investor Mei Gmbh, Joop Nahuysen, director of Ing Rail BV Netherlands, Inntrias O.H., representative of Ing Rail BV NL Or PT Amagedon.

The meeting was also attended by other local officials and local investors.

Fauzi hoped following the completion of the feasibility study the project could be immediately started to support transportation from neighboring regencies to Padang, the capital of West Sumatra province.

"Thank God, an agreement was also reached during the meeting to build railraods from Padang to several other cities or districts," he said.

There would be seven rail roads and roads infrastructure development plans to Padang including Padang city`s east ringroad, Pengambiran-Bungus road tunnel, Teluk Bayur port development and Padang-Solok shortcut road.

A railroad meanwhile would be developed from Simpang Haru to Duku BIM and also Padang`s west ringroad.

"If the shortcout is opened road uses would spend 16 minutes less to reach Bungus Teluk Kabung through Bukit Lampu," he said.
