Cipatat, West Java (ANTARA News) - Indonesia has stopped the operations of its embassy in Tripoli, Libya, due to the insecure situation in the country, and moved the mission`s services to Tunisia.

"We have stopped the operations of our representative office there and for the time being all diplomatic duties in the office are carried out by the embassy or our representative office in Tunisia," President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said here on Tuesday.

The security risks were too high and therefore the government had decided to evacuate its citizens from Libya, he said during a visit to the Infantry Education Center.

President Yudhoyono hoped the war in Libya would end soon and that God would protect the people of Libya so that they could build a better future in accordance with their aspirations.

He said the Indonesian government was very concerned over the death of many civilians there and hoped a peaceful settlement could be reached to prevent more civilians from being victimized.

President Yudhoyono also said the democratic transition that would likely happen in Libya must involve all elements so that Libya`s future would be like what the Libyans wished.

"We also hope that after the end of the conflict later Libya could conduct consolidation and transition towards the future that its people wish to build and restore its economy," he said.***3***
