Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Malaysia does not grab over Indonesia`s territory in Tanjung Datu area, West Kalimantan, Indonesian lawmaker from Commission II that handle border issues Ramadhan Pohan said.

Pohan stated so in respond to recent statement by an Indonesian lawmaker in the local media saying that Malaysia tried to damage border pole in Tanjung Datu and Camar Bulan area to grab Indonesia`s territory there.

"Last Friday (Oct 13-red), I and three other lawmakers visited Tanjung Datu and Camar Bulan. I can assure that there is no border cross over conducted by Malaysia there," he said here on Monday at a joint press conference with visiting Malaysian Defense Minister Dato Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Pohan explained he had checked the A104 border pole that was said to be destroyed by Malaysian side in order to blur the border line between Indonesia and Malaysia. "The pole is fine. Indonesia-Malaysia border area is still located on the same coordinate that has been set up according to an MoU in 1978," he said.

Asked about previous report saying that there were 1,500 Indonesian living in Malaysia`s territory of Tanjung Datu, Pohan also denied it. "I find no housing complex there, only woods," he said.

Pohan called on all related parties to remain calm in responding to the border issue between Malaysia and Indonesia.

"I expect Indonesian people especially politicians to say something in public that is based on factual," he said.

Meanwhile, Malaysian Defense Minister Dato Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi expressed hope that bilateral relation between Indonesia and Malaysia did not interrupted due to the recent border issue.

"We never grab Indonesia`s territory in Tanjung Datu. Please make our bilateral relation a priority not a commodity for politic," he said. (*)
