Over 30 American companies were in Jakarta for two days exploring business opportunities in the Indonesian marketplace, according to the embassy`s media release on Tuesday.
The trade mission was organized by AmCham Singapore and led by U.S. Ambassador to Singapore David Adelman.
This is AmCham Singapore`s largest trade mission ever, with 31 business leaders from 26 companies participating. The high level of interest in the mission underscores the attractiveness of Indonesia as an investment destination.
In September 2011, AmCham Singapore released the results of its ASEAN Business Outlook survey, which found that Indonesia is the most popular regional destination for U.S. companies interested in expansion, with 72 percent of respondents reporting plans to enter the Indonesian market.
U.S. Ambassador to Indonesia Scot Marciel and the AmCham Singapore delegation met with the Indonesian Minister of Industry, the Indonesian Minister of Trade, the Chairman of the Investment Coordinating Board and other senior-level government and business officials.
Promoting trade and investment opportunities for Indonesian and American companies is one of the most important goals under the U.S.-Indonesia Comprehensive Partnership. (*)
