"The teachers will receive money to continue their study for bachelor program, the fund is drawn from provincial income and budget (APBD)," Head of the Bengkulu Province`s Education Office Yasarlin said here on Wednesday.
In 2009, at least 340 teachers were recorded to have received such educational fund. A teacher got Rp2.5 million in 2010, but such amount was also granted to 380 teachers in 2010.
"This year some 350 teachers have the opportunity to receive educational funds. Each of them get Rp2.5 million per year, while in 2012 there will be around 400 teachers to receive such," he said.
"We also propose for the granting of educational fund to 90 teachers wishing to continue their study for master program. Each of them receive at least Rp7 million annually," Yasarlin said.
Such educational fund to teachers wishing to continue their study in doctoral program, his side was reported to propose around Rp12 million for each teacher.
At present, the number of government teachers in Bengkulu province is about 31,700 teachers at the elementary, junior and senior high schools. But only 50 percent of them are actually graduate of bachelor (strata one) program.
In 2014, at least the teachers in the province of Bengkulu are expected to be graduates of bachelor (strata one) programs. A teacher who has bachelor program education will not be allowed to participate in the teachers certification test, as it is the only standard prerequisite for the teacher to a certification allowance.
