The head of state also said here Thursday that all the criticism and concern among environmentalists both national and international are considered by the government and become valuable inputs in policy implementation.
However the president disagrees on the discourse that Indonesia should close all palm plantation businesses.
The President said that Indonesia has always supported and made efforts to protect and ensure the sustainability of the rain forests, but that does not mean there should be no effort in forestry.
"I support good forest management, but it is very excessive if forest exploitation is prohibited at all," the president said.
Oil palm plantation businesses should and must pay attention to environmental sustainability and existence of the forests, but that does not mean the businesses should be closed entirely, he said.
On the occasion, President Yudhoyono also invited all the components of the nation to implement the one billion trees planting program, so that each year there are billions of trees planted throughout the country and become one of the solutions to climate change and global warming.(*)
