"His thoughts colored Indonesia`s economic policies," the president said while mourning Prof Dr Widjojo Nitisastro at the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) building here.
Widjojo, age 85, who was also chairman of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), passed away on Friday at 2:30 pm after being treated at Cipto Mangunkusuomo general hospital (RSCM) in Jakarta.
"We again lost one of the nation`s best persons. He (Widjojo) played a role in the country`s development," the president said, adding that Widjojo had laid the economic foundations that spurred Indonesia's economic growth.
History recorded that Widjojo contributed many ideas to overcome economic problems Indonesia faced during the 1960s and 1970s, the president added.
