Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A parliament member from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Rieke Dyah Pitaloka expressed hope that the decision making in the plenary session at the House of Representatives on whether or not to raise the fuel price will take place through transparent voting.

"Actually, the House of Representatives (DPR) acts as the decision maker on whether or not to raise the fuel oil price because DPR has the right to decide the subsidized fuel price increase," she said here on Friday.

The government and the House of Representatives are scheduled to hold a meeting on Friday to decide whether the price of subsidized gasoline will be raised as of April 1.

The government seeks to raise the price of subsidized premium gasoline from Rp4,500 to Rp6,000 per liter, and diesel oil from Rp4,500 to Rp6,000 per liter.

Meanwhile, in Batam, Riau Islands (Kepri), the Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) supported the government`s plan to increase the price of subsidized fuel prices.

"Apindo has supported (fuel price hike plan) since the beginning," chairman of Apindo Kepri chapter, Cahya said here on Friday.
