"I think they need a specific strategy."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A professional association dealing with IT companies and the export activities of electronics and electrical machinery in Turkey, Turkish Electro-Technology Exporters` Association (TET), organised a business meeting to improve the business relationship between Turkey and Indonesia here Monday.
"This business meeting is being held to improve the business relationship, through not only talks about Turkey`s exports but also collaboration between Turkey and Indonesia," declared the chairman of the TET board, Fatih Kemal Ebiclioglu, here.
The business meeting was attended by more than one hundred Turkish businessmen and delegations from 12 reputable companies.
TET was founded on September 2, 1991, and currently has over 7,500 member companies.
Ebiclioglu explained that Turkey was known for manufacturing home appliances, fibre optics, cables and satellite equipment.
"We are very interested in the Indonesian market. Indonesia, with its big population, is indeed a significant and influential market for Turkey."
He noted that earlier, the European Union (EU) had been the market for their products.
"EU is facing a debt crisis now, and Turkey has also been incorporated in EU, so it is not our successful achievement. We need some challenges," he remarked.
He expressed hopes that this trade would usher in many more investments and investment programmes to accelerate GDP growth for both countries.
The vice chairman for industry, research and technology of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Bambang Sudjagad, stated that Turkish products must compete with Japanese and Chinese products to attract the Indonesian market.
"I think they need a specific strategy if they want their products to enter Indonesia," Bambang pointed out.
Turkey has shown considerable growth in the manufacture of electronics and electrical machinery as well as the ICT industry in the last 30 years.
