"We hope the cooperation will strengthen the two countries` government-to-government and business-to-business relations, especially in the textile industry," Gusmardi said here on Friday.
He noted from Chinese trade history, while referring to the Silk Road that was developed during the 3rd century BC, that China was the right trading partner for Indonesia, particularly for textile products.
"Therefore, we have asked Chinese business players from the textile industry to develop a new trade and investment Silk Road between Indonesia and China," Gusmardi said.
He added the cooperation would benefit the two countries` bilateral trade in textile products.
"We strongly expect the commitment of both Indonesian Textile Producers Association (API) and China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles (CCCT) to stepping up sustainable and mutually beneficial trade cooperation," Gusmardi stated.
He expressed optimism that the trade and investment cooperation between the two countries would result in a strong production base of textile products for both domestic and foreign markets. (*)
