As reported by local Saudi daily Okaz on Tuesday (July 9), the Indonesian maid came to Saudi Arabia to work for a property tycoon in the city of Taif.
Later, the employer got married to the maid. However, he passed away not long after the marriage.
According to a Saudi Arabian social observer, Abdullah Umar, the employer had himself inherited many plots of land and apartment buildings across many parts of Taif, particularly on the outskirts of the city, due to which there were ownership disputes among the heirs.
However, the Indonesian maid decided to stay in Saudi Arabia until she obtained her husband`s legacy.
After more than eight years of negotiations among all claimants to the properties, trial judge Sheikh Abdurrahman Al-Dakhil ruled that the maid was entitled to her husband`s inheritance.
The maid then inherited 20 million Saudi riyals from her husband, whose legacy was valued at 300 million Saudi riyals, after the apartment buildings and plots of land were sold through an open bidding process. (A050/INE/BSR/O001)
