Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia`s ministry of transportation and the Korea Transport Institute (KOTI) has made a cooperation agreement covering increasing capacity and exchange of research materials, publications and science information.

"Cooperation activities include researches on trains, intelligent transportation system, city transportation and multi-mode of transportation," Deputy Minister of Transportation Bambang Susantono said in a press release received here on Tuesday.

He said the two sides would create joint programs on various things that would be implemented jointly in a year`s tiem.

He said his office has chosen KOTI for the cooperation because the South Korean institution is more experienced in building a transportation system.

"The cooperation will be carried out continuously and so South Korea could share its experience with us," he said.

Bambang and KOTI president Gyeng Chul Kim signed a memorandum of understanding for an academic exchange and jint research activities in the field of transportation at the transportation ministry office on July 13.

Under the MOU intellectual property rights that emerge out of the cooperation are regulated to become common rights with each party allowed to use them for the purpose of maintenance, adjustment and improvement of the properties.

KOTI as a think-tank institution will also share its experience in the field of transportation development, the statement said.
