"KPK has collected information from witnesses from private parties outside the ones held by the National Police numbering more than 10 in Bandung and Jakarta," KPK spokesman Johan Budi said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia`s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has questioned more than 10 witnesses in connection with an alleged corruption case in the National Traffic Police Corps.

"KPK has collected information from witnesses from private parties outside the ones held by the National Police numbering more than 10 in Bandung and Jakarta," KPK Spokesman Johan Budi said here on Thursday.

He said investigation of Inspector General DS as suspect still continued and KPK also continued the coordination following a meeting between the police and KPK chiefs during a fast breaking gathering at the police headquarters on Wednesday.

"Next week there will be questioning of witnesses in Jakarta but no schedule has been made for questioning other suspects," he added.

Johan said the meeting between National Police Chief General Timur Pradopo, KPK Chief Abraham Samad and President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Wednesday was normative and did not touch on the case.

"The President only conveyed an appeal to the police and KPK to cooperate meaning conduct coordination following earlier misperception over who has to handle who, which is to be discussed in further meetings," he said.

What has been agreed upon was only that KPK and the police had to cool down so that situation would not become worse due to statements from officials of the two institutions.

Regarding the evidence collected from the National Traffic Police Corps office Johan said it would be scrutinized next week.

"I can assure next week KPK will study the evidence," he said.

Based upon an investigation order on July 27, KPK has named Inspector General DS, the former chief of the Traffic Police Corps, as suspect in the case linked to procurement of driving simulators.

Other suspects that have been named by KPK are BS, SB and DP by their initials.

DP, a police brigadier general, is the deputy chief of the Traffic Police Corps while BS is the president director of PT Citra Mandiri Metalindo Abadi and SB is a director of PT Inovasi Teknologi Indonesia which is a sub-contractor of PT CMMA.

On August 1, the National Police`s Crime Investigation Agency, meanwhile had named five suspects in the same case and three of them are the same as those named suspects by KPK namely DP, BS and SB while the two others are Adjunct Senior Commissioner TR as the chairman of the committee for goods and simulator service procurement and police commissioner LGM as the Corps` treasurer.

The Crime Investigation Agency has also detained Brigadier General DP, Commissioner LGM, Adjunct Senior Commissioner TR and BS while SB had been jailed in Kebon Waru, Bandung, in connection with an embezzlement case.

KPK meanwhile has investigated the case worth Rp198.7 billion since January 2012. (*)
