New York (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Yudhoyono arrived in New York on Sunday morning to attend the 67th session of the UN General Assembly and hold a series of bilateral and multilateral talks.

Upon arrival at John F Kennedy Airport in New york after a 30-hour flight from Jakarta, President Yudhoyono and entourage were greeted by Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa, Indonesian Ambassador to the US Dino Djalal and Indonesian Representative to the UN Desra Percaya.


Before, Natalegawa had arrived in US and had a bilateral meeting with his US colleague, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. They had a series of dialogue, one of them was the plan of acquisition of eight AH-64D Long Bow for the Indonesian Army's Aviation Service.

Yudhoyono has a number of bilateral and multilateral issues on his agenda to be discussed during the visit.
He will attend the opening ceremony and later speak as part of the general debate during the 67th session of the UN General Assembly.

The Indonesian leader, the Liberian president and the British prime minister will co-chair the first-day meeting of the High Level Panel on the Post-2015 Development Agenda.

Yudhoyono will also attend a meeting of G7+ countries, which represents 17 fragile and conflict affected countries. At the meeting he will speak of Indonesia's experience in resolving conflicts.

He will also meet with Egyptian President Mohamed Morsy, Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev, Finnish President Sauli Niisito, the President of the 67th session of the UN General Assembly, German President Joachim Gauck, and Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti.

He will also attend Indonesia Investments Day at the New York Stock Exchange, where he is expected to meet with large US investors.

While in New York, Yudhoyono will receive the "Valuing Nature Awards for Leadership in the Coral Triangle Initiative" from The Nature Conservancy, WRI & WWF, and "USABC 21st Century Economic Achievement" from the US-ASEAN Business Council.

The two awards reflect the international community's recognition of the economic progress made by Indonesia under the leadership of President Yudhoyono and of the Indonesian commitment to preserving the environment.

The President will receive the awards at an event entitled Indonesia: Towards Environmental and Economic Sustainability.

Yudhoyono will also deliver a keynote address at the launch of the Journal Strategic Review, and later receive a medal from the Foreign Policy Association in recognition of his role and leadership in promoting global peace and development.
