"The UHP tires, which will be available in the Indonesian market early next year, are based on new concepts demonstrating the latest technology - the futuristic Non-Pneumatic Tire (NPT) and the Intelligence Tire," it said.
The South Korean firm has showcased four types of tyres, including its flagship Ventus S1 evo product - which was designed in collaboration with the Deutsche Tourenwage-Meinstraschaft technology - at the event.
"The NPT and Intelligence Tire concepts will attract the attention of the IIMS visitors," said Jae Bum Park," the vice president of ASEAN-India Marketing & Sales Division of Hankook Tire.
Jae Bum Park expressed appreciation on behalf of his company for getting the opportunity to take part in the largest Indonesian automotive expo.
"The presence of Hankook Tire will reinforce the tyre market in Indonesia. Hankook will become a strong market player in the country," he said.
Hankook Tire products are sold in over 180 countries, and the company employs 18,000 workers across the world.
The IIMS was held at the Jakarta Fair Ground, Kemayoran.
Production of car tires and motorcycle tyres in Indonesia in 2010 increased by 28.8 percent and 43.2 percent, respectively, compared with the previous years figures.
Tyre sales in the replacement market rose 23.8 percent and sales in the original equipment (OE) market (car factories) increased by 54.4 percent, while exports climbed by 25.4 percent.
In 2005, tire production in Indonesia rose 16 percent, when the country`s economy grew by 7.2 percent. However, in 2010, Indonesia`s tire production surged 33.7 percent at a time when the nation saw an economic growth of only 5.8 percent.
Tyre sales in Indonesia in 2010 reached 49.5 million tires, up 23 percent from 2009. In addition, tire exports in 2010 also increased by 25 percent, compared with 2009 figures, touching 35.1 million tires.
