Jakarta (ANTARA News) - State-owned company PT Len Industri said it plans groundbreaking to mark the start of the construction of a solar cell factory in December, 2012.

The factory to be built in cooperation with state oil and gas company PT Pertamina will have a capacity of 60 megawatts.

"This is an assignment project and an investment so that we have industry to generate renewable energy in Indonesia," PT Len Industri`s President Abraham Mose told ANTARA News here on Monday.

He said the facility will be built in Rancaekek, Bandung, West Java, using the technology of "photovoltaic" as future energy.

"Solar photovoltaic is the right solution to problem to increase electrification in remote areas in Indonesia not covered by state electricity company PLN," Abraham said.

The government has issued a presidential regulation No. 5 in 2006 planning the use of solar energy up to 0.3 percent of the country`s energy requirement of 1,000 MWp in 2025 - or an addition of 65 MWp of solar energy per year.

The company also plans to invest in airport navigation system, Abraham said.

"We will submit proposal to take part in airport project to offer service in which the company is skilled that is in navigation. This is what we are doing in the next five years," he added.

In short term the company will introduce interlocking based product on 28 November 2012, he said, adding, the product is produced jointly with the Research and Technology Ministry.

He said the projects to be handled by the company need the services in which it is competent such as in railway signalling, sea navigation communications, power energy (renewable energy), military communications equipment , navigation system and control system .

"In principle, we always follow changes and keep pace with technology developments abroad," he said.

The company, therefore, has established a strategic corporate division aimed at keeping record of industrial changes, he said. (*)
