"Violence and security disturbance at home are still rife."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono issued a Presidential Instruction (Inpres) on improved handling of security disturbances within the country here on Monday.

"Violence and security disturbance at home are still rife. Therefore, I issued Inpres No.2/2013 today to ensure improved handling of such problems," the head of state said when opening the 2013 government working meeting at the Jakarta Convention Centre on Monday.

The President noted that although political stability and security within Indonesia last year was better than those of other countries, communal conflicts and security disturbances were inevitable in a number of areas across the nation.

"With Inpres No.2/2013, I hope the security situation at home will continue to improve from now on. Therefore the governors, district heads and mayors should help the police and military personnel maintain political security and stability," he stated.

The Inpres was to be explained further by Coordinating Minister of Political, Legal and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto during the one-day government working meeting on Monday.

Speaking to all governors, district heads, and mayors at the government working meeting, President Yudhoyono said the security situation in Indonesia would improve ahead of the 2014 general elections.
