"Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa and his Timor Leste Counterpart Dr. Jose Luis Gutteres discussed about the border issue on Thursday meeting. The Ministers hoped that the issue could be solved immediately," said Tene in a press briefing here on Friday.
According to him, there are three more areas that have not been determined by the border markers.
He said both countries will also prioritize national interests in accomplishing the border issue.
Tene said Minister Marty in the meeting also emphasized Indonesian support for the membership of Timor Leste in the Association of South East Asia Nations (ASEAN).
"Indonesia`s stance on the issue is clear, that we fully support Timor Leste to become a member of ASEAN," said Tene.
Tene said Indonesia has also encouraged ASEAN to immediately decide the membership of Timor Leste in the organization.
"We hope that ASEAN member countries can accept Timor Leste to be a member of the regional organization," said Tene.
Minister Gutteres visited Indonesia to accompany Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao in a state visit to the country to join in the Jakarta International Defense Dialogue (JIDD) 2013 on March 20 -- 21.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono welcomed Prime Minister Xanana at the State Palace on March 20, followed by bilateral discussions among Foreign Ministers on March 21. (*)
