Some of the officers have followed agriculture census training.
Timika, Papua (ANTARA News) - Indonesian Statistic Agency (BPS) of Mimika District will deploy at least 268 officers to conduct agriculture census on May 1 to 31, 2013 in Timika District.

"Some of the officers have followed agriculture census training. We conducted the courses particularly for areas at Mimika Baru Village, Kuala Kencana and East Mimika which were followed by 177 persons," said Chief of Mimika BPS Suhaimto in an interview with ANTARA here, Thursday.

According to him, several officers who also followed census training come from Tembagapura, Jila, Jita, Agimuga, Far East Mimika, Central Mimika, West Mimika, Middle West Mimika and Far West Mimika.

The Agency recruited several census officers from senior high school level to facilitate the collecting data effort from farmers.

"The data which were gathered from agriculture census will be utilized by the government to create agricultural map in order to discover the total farmers and families as well as agriculture potential in each region," Suhaimto said.

He said the agriculture census will start from May 2013 and is expected to be accomplished on 2015.

Chief of Mimika BPS said that his agency needs support and cooperation of Mimika civilians by giving the required data to census officers.

"We hope Timikan people understand the purpose of this agriculture census for the interest of the country. We are really appreciated if people give the required data to the officers," Suhaimto said, adding that the census has nothing to do with the taxes and other administrations.
