The two would have only a punishment of a year of imprisonment each if they accepted the verdict of the Bojonegoro district court.Bojonegoro, East Java (ANTARA News) - Two former leaders of the Bojonegoro legislative assembly have been declared law fugitives after failing to honor summon for execution of the verdict of law court in corruption case.
Mochtar Setijohadi and Maksum Amin both former deputy chairmen of the Bojoneforo district legislative assembly have been convicted for involvement in embezzling Rp13.2 billion in state fund.
They had been summoned twice before and they were declared law fugitives after failure to honor the third summon on Tuesday, Bojonegforo chief prosecutor Tugas Utoto said.
Maskum Amin gave reason of being sick for not coming to honor the second summon, but Mochtar Setijohadi gave no reason at all, Tugas said.
The Supreme Court ruled they were guilty of embezzling Rp13.2 billion, funds to cover cost of official visits during their term from 2006-2007 .
The two were meted out a punishment of six years in jail plus a fine of Rp200 million each.
The Supreme Court also ruled Mochtar Setijohadi to pay Rp687.8 million and Maksum Amin Rp754.05 million in compensation to the state. Their property would be confiscated or their prison term would be six months longer if failing to provide the compensation.
The Supreme Court annulled the decision earlier of the Surabaya High Court which gave them a punishment of two years in jail plus a fine of Rp50 million each.

He said the prosecution has yet to continue investigation into the case for possible involvement of other members of the district legislative assembly.(*)
