Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to receive Papua New Guinean (PNG) Prime Minister Peter Charles Paire O`Neill at Merdeka Palace here on Monday afternoon.

Besides the tete-a-tete between President Yudhoyono and O`Neill that will start at 3.30 pm, there will also be a bilateral meeting between the two countries` delegations to sign several cooperation agreements.

"The main focus of the meeting is to step up bilateral relations between the two countries through the arrangement of a framework cooperation in various fields," Presidential special staff for international relations Teuku Faizasyah said.

Besides, he said Indonesia and PNG found it important to boost economic cooperation and people to people contact as they have very significant land border.

Faizasyah said the bilateral meeting between Yudhoyono and O`Neill on Monday will be the second after the first one during the Bali Democracy Forum on November 9, 2012 in Bali to discuss cooperation in air transportation, oil and gas, and electricity.

In Monday`s meeting, memorandum of understandings on extradition agreement, land border arrangement, and air transportation will be signed before President Yudhoyono and Prime Minister O`Neill.

"The Government of Indonesia finds it important to strengthen relations and comprehensive cooperation with PNG, the only country in the Pacific region that shares land border with Indonesia," Faizasyah said.
